96+ Points, Antonio Galloni, 2017-2034 Vinous The 2009 Barolo Bricco Pernice is easily one of the wines of the vintage. A dark, mysterious wine, the 2009 emerges from the glass with dark red cherries, plums, menthol, sage and sweet tobacco. The 2009 Bricco Pernice has it all; expressive aromatics, layered fruit and fine tannins that are exceptionally rare in this challenging vintage. The 2009 is plush, deep and beautifully resonant, but never heavy. I imagine the 2009 will start softening a bit in a few years, but it is already virtually impossible to resist. Cogno has done a great job here. The 2009 spent three years in cask, all of which it needed.Review Date: 01 Jan 14
