Our Ethos

Knowledge and Experience

Knowledge and Experience

In fine wine, experience is essential as insightful advice can only be informed by first-hand knowledge. We value our own judgement and personally evaluate wines that we release in our regular offers. As a team, we taste as widely as possible, ensuring each advisor has the chance to develop their own knowledge continually. This is further supported by buying trips to key regions where we taste in situ with the producer. The development of the team’s knowledge is hugely important to Atlas and is central to our approach, as we cite our own knowledge and our own tasting experience in our offers, rather than relying solely on critics’ commentary and point scores. Every Atlas advisor is therefore empowered to share their opinion with colleagues and clients alike. Over the years we have assisted numerous members of staff in realising their potential, sponsoring any interested employee through their wine examinations to WSET Diploma level.

Bespoke Service

Bespoke Service

Beyond our regular circulars, we offer wines to our clients based on the interests they have outlined or discussed with us – be this for current-drinking, cellarage, or investment. Many of these wines are sourced by the individual case. When we have access to a wine that we believe may have a broader appeal, we will circulate this to all clients in one of our regular offers. Such circulars form a relatively small part of what we do, as the vast majority of our sales are made on a one-to-one basis with specific clients. For investment recommendations, we set out an in-depth rationale drawing upon available independent data sources to illustrate the opportunity in the market. We understand that not every client wants to build close dialogue with their wine merchant, but bespoke advice is on hand should anyone require it. We source many wines upon request, irrespective of order size or value. If this service could be of interest to you, please contact the sales team.

Provenance and Condition

Provenance and Condition

Atlas enjoys direct allocations from a number of leading producers, some of which we represent exclusively in the UK. We have also built an extensive network of suppliers, all of whom are European, rigorously vetted and have a proven track record with Atlas. Unlike some providers, we will not sell wines that have been to Asia or the USA and back, nor where we cannot accurately vouch for the condition of the stock in question. With extensive private client reserves, held in LCB Eton Park in Burton-on-Trent, we can broker wines for our clients, should they wish to sell. For such stocks, we have full knowledge of the provenance and condition of each case, providing the strongest possible assurances to the purchasing client.

Unbiased Insight

Unbiased Insight

Atlas clients benefit from impartial market intel from a team of qualified experts. For wines in which we see investment potential, we set out an in-depth rationale drawing upon independent sources to show the wine’s position in the market. We travel to key wine regions to assess new vintages, from which we will offer wines only that we believe represent value rather than in order to protect any direct allocation.
