Tasting Note
(91-93) Points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (these vines are about 35 years old; Bouzereau picked them first in 2017, on August 30; 25% new oak): Light, bright yellow. Soil-inflected scents of wild herbs, hazelnut, clove and nut oil, plus a whiff of musky reduction. Thick in the mouth, but showing good spicy lift and back-end firmness. A bit less harmonious today than the Perrières as this juicy, concentrated wine is both higher in acidity and a bit more phenolic. Finishes with a savory quality. According to Bouzereau, these vines are planted on SO4 rootstock but are not yet degenerating; the parcel, originally from the Chartron estate, is also the source for Yves Boyer's Le Cailleret.Review Date: 01 Sep 18
