Tasting Note
92-94 Points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous From a 2004 barrel: Good deep red. Sweet raspberry, musky game, smoke and wildflowers on the nose. Sappy, layered and sweet, with lovely aromatic lift to the black raspberry flavor. From a 2002 barrel: Aromas of black raspberry, black cherry and bitter chocolate. Less aromatic and expressive in the middle palate but very fresh and firmly built, and more gripping on the aftertaste. From an approximation of the final blend, featuring about 20% new oak: Full, deep red. Knockout nose combines black raspberry, smoked meat and a whiff of smoky oak. Lush and wonderfully sweet, with a chewy texture and considerable volume but no impression of weight. This boasts terrific inner-mouth purity and compelling length and aromatic persistence. Should make a wonderfully nuanced wine. Fourrier noted that as the 2006 malos here were earlier than usual, he planned to rack in December and bottle in February of '08.Review Date: 01 Mar 08
