Tasting Note
92-95 Points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous Deep ruby-red. Sappy floral perfume showcases the class of this vineyard at its best: black cherry, violet, minerals, spices. Very sweet, scented and full, with exhilarating spicy high notes. A huge, broad wine that comes across as drier than the regular cuvee-or is it simply less expressive today? Finishes quite reserved, with a mentholated quality that is typical of young Clos Vougeot. Tannins are big but noble. Potentially a great vintage for this estate, as this was a year that favored vinifying with the stems. But this powerhouse will require a good 10 to 15 years of cellaring.Review Date: 01 Mar 07
