Domaine des Lambrays 2016

Domaine des Lambrays 2016

Domaine des Lambrays is an estate which we have long followed. More recently it has been in the news after its purchase by LVMH. Winemaker of over thirty years, Thierry Brouin, continues at the helm. It will, however, be interesting to see how the wines develop as further investment from LVMH is provided but having produced outstanding wines in 2014 and 2015, the 2016 has continued an apparently upward trend.  The domaine has crafted a sublime Clos des Lambrays in 2016.

Domaine des Lambrays,
Clos des Lambrays 2016

This Clos des Lambrays is immediately striking for its purity, its perfume, its sweet fruit and its incredible definition.  While there is an increasing amount of talk of stem use in Burgundy, this shows true mastery of an otherwise too often misapplied technique.  The glorious sweet, ripe fruit caresses the palate, with incredibly fine tannins further contributing to the lustrous, silky texture.  The delineation, focus and direction are remarkable.  A fantastic Clos des Lambrays.  Drink 2025-2038
