NEW RELEASE : Terlano's 2019 Pinot Bianco 'Vorberg' - a standout in a fine run of vintages

2019 Pinot Bianco Riserva 'Vorberg', Cantina Terlano
£170 per 6 bottle case in bond

Since we first offered this wine in the 2016 vintage, Terlano’s Pinot Bianco Riserva ‘Vorberg’, from Northern Italy's Alto-Adige region, has gathered a loyal following among Atlas clients and staff alike. The more vintages we taste of this wine, the more convinced we become that this truly has a place amongst the world’s very best white wines – it’s hard to think of another Pinot Bianco that offers so much complexity. The Wine Advocate’s Monica Larner commented earlier this year: “If I were stranded on a deserted island with just one bottle of wine of my choosing, it very well might be Cantina Terlano's Vorberg”. Glowing praise indeed for this world-class estate. If you are unfamiliar with Cantina Terlano, please follow this link to our previous Vorberg offer for futher information on the estate and its history.

I am very happy to be able to offer the 2019 vintage here at £170 per 6 bottle case in bond.

Tasting the 2019 was a total joy; racier than the 2017 and 2018 vintages, this harked back to the 2016 vintage, with its higher-pitched acidity. There is such an intensity to the fruit, more so than in 2016, but with such an elegant, weightless texture and incredible persistence. Early indications from Piemonte and Alto-Adige suggest that 2019 smiled on Northern Italy – from what I have tasted so far, it certainly seems to be the case.

No critics have yet reviewed the wine. Please find my tasting note below:

Aromas burst from the glass, offering notes of white peach, honeysuckle and orange peel, leading to generous layers of ripe yellow orchard fruits, preserved lemon, subtle sweet spices and that characteristic salinity that I always find in the Vorberg. There is a subtle weightless creaminess to the texture, underpinned by a streak of mineral-infused acidity. This is a stunning rendition of the Vorberg, so long and pure, this wine just refuses to fade. There is no doubt that this has the capacity to age slowly and gracefully, and I think it could turn out to be pretty spellbinding, but should your patience be tested, you will not be disappointed pulling the cork early, it is already superb. Drink 2022-2040+ (LH)

This is invariably one of our most popular offers, so do please let us know of your interest. We expect the wines to be shipped early next year.

Best wishes
