NEW 2022 BORDEAUX EN PRIMEUR RELEASE - Chateau Mangot, Saint-Emilion

NEW 2022 BORDEAUX EN PRIMEUR RELEASE - Chateau Mangot, Saint-Emilion

2022 Château Mangot, Saint-Emilion

£123 per 6 bottle case in bond

This is not a wine we had the chance to taste on our recent Bordeaux trip, but Saint-Emilion’s Château Mangot was released today at £123 per 6 bottle case in bond. Offering great value, this has been tipped by William Kelley as “sure to be one of the best purchases of the en primeur campaign.”

Background:
Château Mangot is an historic, if under the radar Château, which dates back to the mid-1500s. Under ownership of the third generation of the Todeschini family, this 34 hectare estate lies to the east of the Saint-Emilion appellation on clay-limestone soils. The Todeshinis have been farming organically here, long before it became a trend in the region. The grapes are harvested and vinified plot by plot, enabling the team to harvest at optimum ripeness, and giving the winemaking team control over which components make it into the final blend. There is a real sense of care in the vineyard and the winery demonstrated by the Todeschini family, and that has clearly paid dividends, with Kelley remarking that the 2022 is one of the buys of the vintage.

A wine that gets my nod as this dynamic estate's finest to date is the 2022 Mangot, a medium to full-bodied, ample and layered wine evocative of cherries, dark berries, licorice and rose petals. Deep, concentrated and fleshy, with a vibrant core of fruit and a long, mouthwatering finish, this seamless, complete Saint-Émilion is sure to be one of the best purchases of the en primeur campaign.

Intense bright berry fruits, cedar smoking on the aromatics, this is enjoyable, edges of sandalwood and incense, heat on the finish but also succulence and impact. A high energy wine from Yann and Karl Todeschini, Stephane Toutoundji consultant.

Please let us know of your interest.

All the best
