Allen Meadows, on burghound.com, has just reviewed (June 2024) the Domaine Latour-Giraud 2022s and writes: “I have said this before but if you're not searching out these wines, you're missing out on one of the best kept secrets in Meursault.” adding “the Latour 2022s are first-rate and every wine is highly recommended.”
We started working with Jean-Pierre in early 2017 and have seen this previously under the radar producer gradually gain the critical acclaim we knew he merited. In November 2023, Jasper Morris opened his review of the 2022s with a comment that echoed my own sentiments: “I do enjoy tasting with Jean-Pierre Latour. He is one of the most thoughtful vignerons that I come across, nothing flamboyant in his presentation, no cutting-edge techniques in his viticulture or vinification. Just plain common sense and a thorough understanding both of his terroirs and how best to manage the potential of a given vineyard." One year before, Morris had said “his range of white wines was just about the finest I tasted through the autumn months!”
Heed what Meadows said a couple of weeks ago (and we have been saying for seven years now already): don’t miss out.
Domaine Latour-Giraud, Meursault 1er Cru, Charmes 2022

Allen Meadows, burghound.com, 93 points, June 2024 - Sweet spot Outstanding
Like the Bouchères, this is also relatively firmly reduced. On the palate though there is both excellent freshness and verve suffusing the finer and sleeker middleweight flavors that exude evident minerality on the impressively complex, long and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is excellent and a wine that should easily repay a decade plus of keeping. Highly recommended particularly for those who enjoy cellaring their whites.
My note from November 2023:
While the nose here is currently closed and the palate also tight, the finish shows juicy citrus and stone fruit concentration with a textured mineral precision. There is wonderful core of pure, precise, fresh, healthy fruit here and a structure that will see this come through strongly. This Charmes is most certainly realising the quality and style that Jean-Pierre wants, showing a tighter, more focused and energised Charmes. Excellent and with a rosy future. Drink 2027-2037. (ROM)

Here a more elegant nose resembles that of the Charles Maxim save for a broader range of floral elements. The palate impression of the medium-bodied flavors is finer and more mineral-driven if not quite as concentrated, all wrapped in a youthfully austere, firm, balanced and bitter zest-inflected finish. One to look for.
My note from November 2023:
Clean, pure, precise. On the nose there is a subtle hazelnut note with citrus fruit the dominant character on both nose and palate. Mouthwatering tension and energy. Remarkable drive. Really wonderful linear focus and persistence. Drink 2025-2032. (ROM)

A discreet whiff of exotic character is present on the aromas of petrol, white orchard fruit and citrus confit. The rich and solidly concentrated middleweight flavors possess a lovely texture that carries over to the bitter zest-inflected, refreshing and sneaky long finish. A quality Bourgogne.
My note from November 2023:
Closed on the nose but clean, pure and healthy. The palate shows an explosive yellow grapefruit vibrancy and good precision and focus. Clean, fresh and with a gentle pithy grip to the finish. Drink 2024-2028. (ROM)
