This is the finest collection of wines I have ever tasted from Comando G, each of them with a different personality, more and more evident each year.

“These are among the most inspiring wines produced in Spain today.” – Luis Gutiérrez in 2020
We have offered a number of wines from Comando G and never been less than inspired by what we have tasted. These are sublime wines but so rare, particularly at the level of this wine, Las Umbrias, of which only around 500 case of 3 bottles are produced a year. Special wines of grace and elegance.
Comando G was established in 2008 by Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia, who set out on a mission to express the unique terroir of the rugged Gredos region in Spain through the old vine Garnacha that had long been neglected. In not much more than a decade this estate has come to epitomise the dynamism increasingly evident in Spain with wines that are undoubtedly some of the most compelling produced in Spain today.

The 2021 Las Umbrías is completely unusual. For a start, it's cloudy. They decided to bottle it like that, without racking, and the nose feels like a Poulsard from the Jura produced in Chambolle-Musigny, wild, lively and expressive. It has notes of red fruit, hints of tangerine and flowers. It's cold, ethereal, delicate, with almost unnoticeable tannins, and it's full of crystalline energy, quartz and iron. This is a vineyard that marks the vintages like no other. In great vintages, it has great finesse; and in warmer years, it suffers more. This is not a vintage for all consumers, as the wine is quite different from previous years, with a contained 13.5% alcohol and a vibrant and characterful palate. Magical. A total of 1,490 bottles were filled in March 2023, unfiltered and unfined, as direct as possible from the tank, where it was racked directly from the foudre. Drink 2024-2034.
