As I've written before, viticulture chez Bouchard is among the best of the big houses.

As William Kelley highlights above, viticulture at Bouchard is at a very high level. Winemaking is also thoughtful and followed through with immense care and attention to detail by Frédéric Weber and his team in order to bring out the unique character of each Cru.
Recent vintages have seen a lifting of the quality bar for whites that already had a sound history of being well-made examples. They are now not just well-made but exemplary expressions of their site.
Due to the scale of their holdings, in enviable Grand Cru vineyards, Bouchard bottle a greater proportion than many in large formats and we are able to offer Corton-Charlemagne, Chevalier-Montrachet and Le Montrachet in recent strong vintages in Methuselah (6 litres), Jeroboam (3 litres) and individual magnum, all of perfect provenance.

The 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru surpasses its showing from barrel, revealing an attractive bouquet of ripe orchard fruit, citrus oil, spring flowers and pastry cream. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, elegantly glossy and precise, with a fleshy core of fruit that's tempered by brisk acids, concluding with a delicately chalky finish. While this is a little shut down after its recent bottling, this is a charming, expressive Corton-Charlemagne in the making. Drink 2022-2040

The 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is performing very well from bottle, offering up inviting aromas of pear, green pineapple, citrus oil, white flowers, lemon curd and fresh pastry. Medium to full-bodied, deep and nicely concentrated, it's muscular and structured, with racy acids and fine reserves of dry extract. This should age with class. Drink 2025-2045

Rich and demonstrative, the 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru wafts from the glass with aromas of orchard fruits, peach, nutmeg, orange oil and fresh bread. Full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, it's deep and concentrated, with a fleshy core of fruit, lively acids and a long, saline finish. This is an unusually broad-shouldered but beautifully balanced Corton-Charlemagne from Bouchard. Drink 2025-2055

Pale lemon colour, considerable concentration on the nose, not yet much detail. Oof, there is a really impressive wealth of fruit here, taking the upper hand over the terroir for the moment but there is so much still to come. 20% new wood. The stones are waiting! Really very long, a majestic Corton-Charlemagne in the making. Drink 2027-2040

Neal Martin, vinous.com, 94 points, August 2021
The 2017 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a very intense and well-defined bouquet of lemon sherbet and lemon thyme. The palate is tensile on the entry thanks to a fine silver bead of acidity. This is detailed, precise and saline, with a composed and persistent finish that drags you back for more. It has breeding and class. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. Drink 2025-2055

Neal Martin, vinous.com, 97 points, December 2023
The 2019 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is one of the more oyster shell-tinged wines in the flight. Complex, focused, well-defined and possessing wonderful energy, this just seems to build in the glass. The palate is stunning, with extraordinary harmony, finely-chiseled tannins, seamlessly-integrated oak and fabulous complexity on the finish Quite simply, brilliant. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. Drink 2028-2065

Aromas of white flowers, fresh peach, toasted bread, mandarin oil and pastry cream introduce Bouchard's 2019 Montrachet Grand Cru, a full-bodied, layered and multidimensional wine that's deep and concentrated, with racy acids, terrific mid-palate amplitude and a long, saline finish. Broad shouldered and powerful without being at all overbearing, it's an exemplary rendition of this celebrated site. Drink 2025-2045

The compelling 2020 Montrachet Grand Cru wafts from the glass with aromas of ripe pear and citrus fruit mingled with honeycomb, white flowers, fresh bread and baking spices. Full-bodied, ample and multidimensional, it's richly layered, with a textural attack that segues into an ample, fleshy mid-palate and a long, saline finish. Despite its scale, it remains beautifully precise. This is first rate. Dink 2025-2045
