Enquire NowChâteau Angélus is nothing short of a success story, having been promoted to 1er Grand Cru classé B for the 1996 vintage and then again to 1er Grand Cru Classé A for the 2012 vintage. Yet such reclassification has only given the estate the recognition that many have felt it long deserved as it has for many years been producing one of the most alluring, elegant wines of St-Emilion – if not Bordeaux. The estate has been passionately managed by one family for eight generations, now resting in the capable hands of Madame Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, who will be joining us for this exceptional tasting. Although having started her career in London in investment banking, she returned to her roots first in 2007 as an active board member and then in 2012 as the managing director of Château Angélus.
Located in the centre-west of the St-Emilion appellation, due west of St-Emilion town, the estate covers 34 hectares – one of the largest of the region. With near-perfect southerly-exposed slopes, Angélus gains much of its character and fame from the high percentage of Cabernet Franc, which makes up just under 50% of the blend (the remainder of which is Merlot). 27 hectares have been deemed of quality for the Grand Vin and the remaining seven are allocated to the production of Carillon, the estate’s second wine.
We are incredibly pleased that Mme. de Boüard-Rivoal will be joining us for this special evening, which we are opening to a few select clients. At this event, Mme. Boüard-Rivoal will introduce some of the finest vintages of Angélus with comments from Simon Larkin MW of Atlas along the way. The evening will focus on both some of the more recent highlights of the Château – specifically the 2012 vintage – and some of the estate’s most renowned vintages, more mature vintages including the 2000 and 1989. It is an impressive line-up of vintages indeed, and we hope it provides a unique opportunity to contextualise the Château and its successes. Please find the full wines list below:

The evening will take place at Medlar on 23rd February 2016. The Head Chef, Joe Mercer-Nairne, will be creating a menu specifically for this dinner to complement the mature vintages of Château Angélus.
Guests are asked to arrive at 7.00pm for a glass of Champagne. We will taste the five younger vintages in advance of dinner, followed by mature vintages partnered to dinner. We are really looking forward to what promises to be an exciting tasting. Space is strictly limited to 18 clients so I would certainly advise early booking.
