Join us for an opportunity to taste a range of fine Australian Syrah and Grenache from McLaren Vale's Bekkers Wine

 

We are looking forward to hosting a tasting and dinner together with renowned husband and wife winemaker duo Toby and Emmanuelle Bekkers of McLaren Vale’s Bekkers Wine on Tuesday 1st October 2024. The evening will focus on a vertical tasting of Bekkers’ fine Australian Syrah, Grenache, and Syrah/Grenache blend, paired to a fantastic three-course meal at newly-opened Basque grill restaurant Ibai in central London. This is the first time that Toby and Emma have visited the UK since the pandemic, and there will be plenty to discuss.

 

Atlas has ardently followed the Bekkers story for over a decade now, and we are proud to be the exclusive merchant for Bekkers Wines in the UK. The trio of wines in the 2020 vintage dazzled at a tasting earlier this year and these will be showcased alongside some older vintages to highlight the development and vintage variation. 

 

About Bekkers

By way of background, Toby is a hugely respected vineyard consultant and a pioneer of organic and biodynamic viticulture. Emmanuelle (nicknamed Emma) is a French winemaking consultant, who ended up in Australia as a winemaker at Hardy’s. Together, they have a near perfect blend of skills which exemplifies the sheer quality and provenance of the wines under the Bekkers label. 

 

With a mission to elevate the fine wine status in the McLaren Vale region, the wines possess a rare sense of balance, precision and elegance that is uncommon to the majority of Australian Syrah or Grenache. And, while their Syrah has helped put them on the map, their Grenache has a level of sophistication that impresses greatly and is seldom found in Australia.
