As you will tell from the notes, we have been selective in terms of the wines we have chosen to write up; 2015 is far from a uniform success although there are some notable high points.

You will no doubt have heard a number of comments on the vintage – particularly given wine critic James Suckling’s effusive notes and scores that have been cited by a number of merchants. Getting out early and releasing notes and scores before any other journalist no doubt makes commercial sense when you spy an opening in the market.

Outlook on Bordeaux 2015

It is that season again when Bordeaux assumes the limelight once more. The 2015 Bordeaux vintage has, it seems, been declared great even though few critics have published their notes and few in the trade have tasted. It all sounds very familiar doesn't it? If we consider the favourable weather conditions that Bordeaux enjoyed in 2015, it is easy to argue that there is likely to be some impressive wines. Broadly speaking, an uncomplicated growing season was followed by optimal conditions at harvest. I am not expecting the same uniformity as in vintages such as 2009 and 2010 but there will no doubt be a range of high quality wines.

Wall Street Journal Panel: Book your tickets

Simon has been invited by William Lyons, The Wall Street Journal's wine columnist, to participate on a panel of experts for the event 'Fine Wine: A Suitable Case for Investment.' Held at the WSJ's headquarters, Simon will speak alongside Miles Davis (Wine Asset Managers) and Nick Martin (Wine Owners). Tickets for the event, held on 23rd September at 1 London Bridge Street from 6.30-8.30pm are available to WSJ subscribers and their guests, and are now on sale.
